Known as the Ford Endeavour in the Indian market, the Ford Everest is a large sport utility vehicle (SUV). It has been produced by Ford Motor Company since 2003 and seen over three generations of an upgrade. This luxury car is a five-door SUV variant of the Ford Ranger, which is a four-door pickup truck. The third generation of Ford Endeavour lasted until the first quarter of 2020. Those models were however discontinued and the ones that are BS6 compliant were launched in the market in the month of April 2020. The three models now compete against Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas G4.
The previous generations of Ford Endeavour offered two diesel engines. However, the 2020 Ford Endeavour comes with a BS6 2-litre EcoBlue diesel engine. The engine produces the maximum power of 167.62bhp and generates peak torque of 420Nm. The displacement provided by this luxury SUV is 1996cc.
All the variants are mated with a 10-speed gearbox which provides automatic transmission. This is the first model in India to have such a feature. It comes with the option of 4 wheel drive.
As for performance, the motor is now more efficient. Where the 4x2 versions offer 13.90 km/l of mileage, the 4x4 version provides an average fuel efficiency of 12.4 km/l. It takes about 11.4 seconds to move from 0 to 100kmph and can touch about 150kmph of top speed.
The SUV has got all-LED headlamps that offer low and high beams that can provide up to 20% of greater lighting penetration for better night-time visibility. Some of the other key features of this new generation of Ford Endeavour are terrain management system, semi-auto parallel park assist, SYNC 3 with 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay, push start button, a sunroof that covers up to 50% of the roof, hand-free power lift rear gate, hill assist, hill descent control, an 8-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seat.
