Coming Soon: New Crop Insurance

In a move  that could offer some succour to farmers reeling under consecutive droughts, the Central Government will launch a  new crop insurance scheme from April this year. Farmers who register in the new insurance scheme will have to pay Rs.450 per acre and the maximum sum assured is Rs.15,000 per acre.

On Thursday, announcing the same at a public meeting, Chandrababu Naidu, AP CM said that the plan is designed to bail out farmers

The year 2015 has been worse for farmers in the delta and Palnadu areas, as deficit rainfall has resulted in low yields.

Chilli and cotton farmers have borne the force of irregular rainfall and have been pushed into losses.

He also launched the newly built Chilakaluripet Urban Police Station.
