  • Hijack distress allowance (up to $700) is also provided under the policy.

Online Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana

Online Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana provides personal accident coverage, medical expenses coverage, and other related covers for Indians traveling to any foreign country.


  • If the policyholder is a victim of permanent disability/death due to an accident in a foreign country, the policy will offer coverage of up to Rs.10 lakhs.
  • The policy takes care of hospitalisation expenses up to Rs.1 lakh.
  • Women emigrants can avail of maternity benefits up to Rs.50,000.

How to buy an IFFCO-Tokio travel insurance policy?

Purchasing an insurance cover online is one of the faster ways to get a travel insurance cover. IFFCO-Tokio has designed a user-friendly website that provides an easy way to ensure that you purchase its policies in the most seamless and hassle-free manner. The following process will guide you in buying it online.

  • On the website of the company, click on the drop-down list of products on the left side of the page and select ‘Travel Insurance’.
  • Now on the travel insurance web page, you need to enter your name and mobile number at the beginning of the webpage and click ‘Submit’. Alternatively, if you want to select a specific policy like the international travel policy or the Pravasi policy, you can scroll down the page and click on ‘Buy Online’ under those policies.
  • Now, you will be redirected to a page where you will be requested to enter your travel details. Once done, click on ‘Get Plans’.
  • After selecting the plan, you will be asked to enter additional personal details.
  • Once you make the payment using the available modes, the policy will be generated and will be emailed to you and a hard copy will be sent to your registered residence.

Claims procedure of IFFCO Tokio Travel Insurance

IFFCO-Tokio has instituted a 24-hour claims procedure that helps individuals to get faster settlement and compensation for losses. If you encounter any problem abroad, you can either file a cashless claim, reimbursement claim or get assistance from a third-party. Once you encounter any problem, you need to give intimation to the company through phone, email, or in writing, and submit the duly completed claim form. In the claim form, you need to select the relevant section from the following:

  • Health Cover
  • Hijack distress allowance
  • Loss of passport
  • Baggage
  • Financial Emergency Assistance
  • Personal Accident
  • Personal Liability

Based on your selection, you will need to submit the following documents:

  • Doctor’s certificate
  • Relevant hospital papers
  • Police Report
  • Property irregularity report (in case of loss of baggage)

1. Do all IFFCO-Tokio travel insurance plans provide dental coverage?

There are various plans available, and out of it, only Gold 500 Benefit Option, Gold 100 Benefit Option, Gold 250 Benefit Option, Silver Benefit Plan, and the Bronze Benefit Plan by IFFCO Tokio get a dental coverage amount of $250.

2. What happens in the case of overall loss of Checked baggage?What is the compensation amount for passport loss?

A compensation of $200 is provided for passport loss.

3. What are the exclusions under the IFFCO-Tokio travel insurance policy?

Following are the standard exclusions under the policy:

  • Losses that occur before the start of the policy.
  • Travelling when the doctor has advised against it.
  • Travelling as a part of naval, military, or air force operation.
  • Intentional harm.
