Drumstick Soup

A nutrient-rich delicious soup that can be prepared very easily at home. It is responsible for improving your gut health, treating any minor cold and flu, as well as increase your energy levels. You simply need:

  • Drumsticks - 2 Pieces
  • Butter - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • Jeera Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Onions - 1/4 cup chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper

In a pressure cooker add some butter, once it is heated properly add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger and saute it for a few minutes till translucent. Add 2 inch pieces of drumsticks and stir for 5 minutes. Once all the ingredients have been sauteed properly add 2-3 cups of water, salt, and some black pepper. Close the lid for 3 - 4 whistles.

Depressurize the cooker, strain all the soup with the help of a strainer into a pan, and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Add Jeera powder and serve it hot with breadsticks and toast.

Sambhar

A widely eaten curry across South India and even North India, the beloved sambhar goes well with all your favorite South Indian dishes such as idli, dosa, uthapam, rice, and more. To prepare this delicious curry you need:

  • Drumsticks- 15 g
  • Arhar Daal - 2 Cups
  • Vegetable Oil/Olive Oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Onions (Chopped)- 1/2 Cup
  • Tomatoes (Chopped) - 1/2 Cup
  • Ginger grated - 1 inch
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp - 1 Tsp
  • Hing - 1/4 Tsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Red Chilli - 2 nos.
  • Curry Leaves - 5 - 6 stems
  • Salt to taste

To Prepare

  • In a pressure cooker add 3 cups water, add salt, turmeric, red chili powder, Arhar Daal, and close the lid of the pressure cooker. Wait for 4-5 whistles before opening the lid.
  • In a separate pan or skillet add some olive oil and let it heat. Once the pan is hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions, ginger, and dry red chili and saute them till they are golden brown.
  • Add chopped tomatoes once the onions are golden brown and add all the spices like red chili powder, turmeric powder, sambhar masala, and salt as per taste. Once the curry masala has been sauteed nicely and well add the daal which was prepared in the pressure cooker.
  • Now add the star ingredient drumsticks and tamarind pulp let it boil for 4-5 minutes and mix everything well. Once the curry has reached the desired consistency serve it hot with rice, idli, or dosa.
