For thousands of years, Ayurveda has been used to treat several illnesses & injuries. In ancient times, it was considered one of the best ways to treat diseases and lead a healthy lifestyle.
In the last few years, these traditional ayurvedic approaches have blended well with our modern lifestyle and have created awareness among today's generation. People nowadays are inclined to improve their health-oriented habits with ancient wisdom and are trying to lead a healthy life.
AYUSH is an abbreviation for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. This concert encourages the patients to get treated with the combination of conventional and modern restorative practices.
With the growing demand for ayurvedic treatments, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) made this mandatory for every Health Insurance provider to offer AYUSH treatment as a part of their coverage as well.
Owing to the increasing demand and potentiality for Ayurvedic treatments, it is necessary to check with your health insurer if the AYUSH treatments are covered under the chosen best health Insurance plan and sub-limits for the same.
Take a look at the below table where we have mentioned some of the Health Insurance plans that offer AYUSH Treatments. For further information, please refer to the plan brochure or get in touch directly with the Insurer.

Any treatment received in a non-government hospital is excluded.
Treatments which require less than 24 hours of hospitalization are excluded from the coverage.
Outpatient Medical Expenses
Expenses related to treatments for people who visit hospitals or clinics for check-ups & diagnosis, but do not need hospitalisation; are excluded from coverage under AYUSH.
Pre & Post Hospitalisation Expenses

You can avail both Cashless & Reimbursement Claim under AYUSH Cover. If you're admitted to the Network Hospital, you can avail Cashless Treatment, wherein, the Insurance Company will settle the claim directly with the hospital.
If you're admitted to a Non- Network Hospitalisation, you can file a Reimbursement Claim. Primarily, you have to settle the bills with the hospital & later, after submission & verification of documents, the company will transfer the amount directly in the registered bank account.
Rather than going for mainstream medical treatments, most people these days are inclined to avail Ayurvedic treatments. With this change in the thinking of people wherein they have started thinking about alternative treatments such as Yoga, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, etc, many Health Insurance Companies have started providing AYUSH treatment cover as a part of their conventional health insurance policies.
Therefore, you must read your policy documents carefully to check if you can avail of the AYUSH cover or not. In case of any confusion regarding your policy, get in touch with the experts at PolicyX.com who will help you out to resolve your queries.
