To bring more awareness around AYUSH Treatments in healthcare the government of India formed the ‘Ministry of AYUSH’.
AYURGYAN scheme was approved from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 to improve health practices through sustainable AYUSH methods as well as enhance research and development increasing global acceptance for these treatments.

Any treatment received in a non-government hospital is excluded.
Treatments which require less than 24 hours of hospitalization are excluded from the coverage.
Expenses related to treatments for people who visit hospitals or clinics for check-ups & diagnosis, but do not need hospitalisation; are excluded from coverage under AYUSH.
The policy does not include spas, body massages or any health rejuvenation procedures, which are not medically required.
The policies do not include Ayurvedic beauty treatments, that are considered for aesthetic purposes rather than medical necessity.
Procedures done under AYUSH that are considered experimental will not be covered under the insurance policy.
If there are any pre-existing conditions, the policy will not cover the cost of AYUSH treatment for that disease.
You can avail of cashless claim settlement for network hospitals or service providers and apply for reimbursement claim settlement if you go for the non-network hospital/service providers. You can follow the steps below for a smooth claim settlement process:

The waiting period for AYUSH treatment coverage depends on policy providers. Usually, most companies apply a 4-year waiting period, after which you can avail the benefit of claim settlement.
