Critical illness is a major problem that arises with time in the old age and it becomes quite burdensome to bear the treatment expenses related to it. Luckily, SBI has a solution to address it. SBI has launched a new Life Poorna Suraksha plan which is a non-participating and non-linked term insurance plan with built-in critical illness coverage. This plan is designed to provide protection and life coverage against critical illness. This product is a unique plan introduced by SBI in the insurance market as it comprises of all the features in a single life insurance plan.
SBI Life Poorna Suraksha plan offers life cover to 36 critical illnesses which is helpful for the policyholders to enhance their requirements with age. The plan comes with the thought of ‘Reverse Parenting’ i.e., a child’s precious gift to his/her beloved parents. With this perception, it is the child who is showing his/her love and care towards their parents. As they become old, it is the responsibility of children to take care of their parents and this plan is one of the best and affordable ways to reciprocate the same. Hence, a bunch of happiness exists in this ‘Suraksha’ policy.
Rebalancing Life Stage Benefit
This benefit of the plan is special as it balances the coverage between life and critical illness. The Sum Assured is divided in a ratio of 80:20 for life cover and critical illness cover respectively at the inception of the plan.
With the decreasing Life Cover Sum Assured, the Critical Illness Sum Assured increases and the Sum Assured will change only once at every policy year.

Life Cover Benefit
The nominee shall be payable with the effective Sum Assured on death benefit in the event of an unfortunate demise of the life insured.
Critical Illness (CI) Benefit
If the policyholder is diagnosed with any listed critical illness, the effective critical illness benefit will be paid. This benefit can be enjoyed only once and will terminate after paying the same.
Waiver of Premium (WOP) Benefit
On diagnosis of critical illness, all the future premiums shall be waived off for this insurance plan. After this benefit is applied, the Life Stage Rebalancing will stop and the life cover Sum Assured will continue thereafter.

Free look Option
If the life insured is not satisfied with the clauses of the policy, he/she can cancel the policy within 15 days from the inception of the policy by declaring valid reasons for the objection. This is called a free look period. The company will refund the paid premiums which include any deductions like medical expenditure and stamp duty charges (if any).
Grace Period & Renewability
The Life Poorna Suraksha plan provides a grace period of 30 days from the due date of premium to make premium payments for the policy. This is only applicable for annual and semi-annual premium payments. The grace period for monthly premium payment is 15 days.
On the other hand, if the policy has lapsed, it can be renewed within 2 years from the date of first unpaid premium provided that the insured will submit appropriate evidence to the insurer.
No Surrender or Paid-up Value is applicable under the SBI Life Poorna Suraksha Plan.
