Tata Tiago has been manufactured by Tata Motors since 2016 in India. It is a city car which has been derived from the Tata Kite project. The hatchback was previously announced as Tata Zica. The word "Zica" was short for "zippy car". This was later changed as it coincided with the outbreak of a virus called Zika. Now called Tiago, the name goes after a common Portuguese masculine name. It was picked from suggestions that were given online. The car has been launched with its latest facelift in the year 2020 and has discontinued its diesel version. Today, it competes against Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Altroz, Ford Figo, and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R amongst several others.
With only a single petrol engine to offer, the Tata Tiago's engine comes as 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron. It generates the maximum power of 86 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. It provides displacement of 1199 cc. This engine is also compliant with the latest emission standard BS-VI.
A front-wheel-drive, the Tata Tiago comes with both automatic and manual transmission. It is paired up with a 5-speed gearbox and single clutch type.
When considering its performance, it's worth noting that Tata Tiago provides 76% better mileage than any other hatchback. With a fuel tank capacity of 23.8 litres, the car generates a mileage of 23.8 km/l. It can attain a top speed of 150 kmph and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph within 18 seconds.
Some of the key features of this hatchback are airbags for both driver and passengers, ABS, headlamp beam adjuster, electronic brake force distribution, overspeed alert, speed-dependent auto door locks, steering adjustment, spacious cabin, and modern exterior design.
