  • In-patient treatment: If the insured person is hospitalized due to an illness or accident, the plan pays for the following expenses- room rent, nursing, medicines, ICU, drugs, diagnostics, oxygen, blood, medical practitioner(s), among others.
  • Pre and post-hospitalization: The plan provides coverage for pre-hospitalization expenses (up to 30 days) and post-hospitalization expenses (up to 60 days).
  • Day care treatment procedures: Get coverage for treatments that don't require more than 24-hour hospitalization. This is only valid for the listed 140 procedures.
  • Ambulance charges: In case the insured person needs to visit the hospital due to an emergency, the plan covers the ambulance expenses (up to Rs.2000) incurred for transportation.
  • Discounts: If two family members are covered under this policy, the insured can enjoy a 5% off on premium. The insured can also get a 7.5% off on premium if (s)he decides to pay an advance premium of 2 years.
  • Tax Benefit: Tax-deductible benefits apply to the premiums paid under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • Grace Period: A grace period of 30 days is available if the policy premium is not paid on time. However, coverage will not be available for the period for which the premium is not paid.

Claim Process of the Tata AIG MediSenior Plan?

The company allows the insured to file a claim via two means- cashless and reimbursement. Let's take a look at them in detail.

Cashless claim (Planned hospitalization)

  • Submit the cashless claim form to the company at least 5 days before the treatment.
  • The company will review the request and notify the network hospital and the insured accordingly.
  • If approved, the insured can visit the hospital and show his/her health card and confirmation letter to avail of the treatment.

Cashless claim (Emergency hospitalization)

  • Inform the company about the treatment within 24 hours of hospitalization.
  • The network hospital will share the cashless claim request with the company.
  • If approved, the company will share the authorization letter with the hospital and the insured can undergo the treatment.

Note- Submit all the necessary documents to avail timely response from the company.

Reimbursement claim

  • Undergo the treatment in a non-network hospital and pay the bills.
  • Once discharged, collect and submit all the necessary documents to the company.
  • The company will review all the documents and approve/reject the claim request accordingly.
  • The company will transfer the amount to the registered bank account.

No, this plan provides coverage only for treatment in India.

2. What happens if I stop paying the premiums of the MediSenior plan?

You'll get a grace period of 30 days to make the payment. Post that, the policy will be terminated and no benefits shall be paid.

3. Does the policy offer migration benefits?

Yes, you have the option to choose another policy (offered by the company) by applying for migration at least 30 days before the policy renewal date.
