HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global Insurance Plan

Are you sceptical about finding the best health insurance plan that protects you and your family under one roof? Read further to learn about the exclusive HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global Insurance Plan.

HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global plan is known for its vital and extended coverage within or outside India, it covers you without any boundaries. It’s a subordinate of the HDFC ERGO Optima Secure health plan that comes with two variants- Optima Secure Global and Optima Secure Global Plus. We’ll be discussing the first variant of this plan type, ie, HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global Health insurance for both a family floater and an individual basis.

The plan offers an ample sum insured of INR 1 Crore to 2 Crores that provides coverage for hospitalisation expenses, pre and post-hospitalisation, organ donor expenses, AYUSH treatment, emergency ambulance, air ambulance, e-opinion for listed 51 critical illnesses, and much more. This is just the beginning of the plan benefits! It offers you all the mentioned coverage benefits and medical expenses that are incurred within India or outside India without additional or separate charges. Given that, the treatment cost incurred shall not exceed the base sum insured of your policy (unless it’s the Plus variant) related to your treatment in India and overseas.

Also, there is an availability of aggregate deductible if the treatment takes place in India, but not overseas/at a global level.

Being a policyholder, you are entitled to buy different add-on covers based on your requirements that will allow you to further complement far-reaching coverage benefits. The available add-on covers under this plan are as follows:

  1. My:Health Critical Illness (Add On)

Get exclusive coverage for listed 51 critical illnesses with a sum insured of INR 10 Lakhs to up to INR 2 Crores (in multiples of INR 1 Lakh).

  2. My:Health Hospital Cash Benefit (Add On)

Get an additional sum insured benefit of INR 500 to up to INR 10,000 that will cover your budget hospital expenses.

  3. Individual Personal Accident Rider

The plan provides you with the benefit of a lump sum payout in case of accidental death, permanent partial disability, and permanent total disability. The amount of payout can go up to a sum insured value multiplied by 5 times up to a maximum of INR 1 crore.

  4. Unlimited Restore (Add-on)

The plan offers unlimited restoration benefits during the active policy year (supposedly, the base sum insured cover increases by 50% on every renewal).

Apart from this, there is an extra add-on cover named Overseas Travel Secure that is available as an optional cover with this Global plan. This optional cover ensures the insured individual’s travel expenses, along with the accommodation expenses of an accompanying person (if any), in case the policyholder has to travel overseas for treatment. If the policyholder chooses an aggregate deductible option, there will be the benefit of a discount ranging from INR 25,000 to INR 5 Lakhs (available in India only).

Last but not the least. Here’s something wonderful that will create a jaw-dropping expression on your face!

The HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global Health Insurance plan comes with a 4-level sum insured restoration benefit that goes like this:

So Much Coverage

HDFC ERGO Health Insurance

Health Cover SI

Suppose you select a sum insured of INR 1 Crore, the base SI will cover your medical expenses as it’s issued to you.

HDFC ERGO Health Insurance

Secure Benefit

As soon as you have access to the policy, it’ll be doubled to INR 2 Crores for extending the coverage benefits of your policy, without paying any extra cost. But, this benefit is only available in India not overseas.

HDFC ERGO Health Insurance

Plus Benefit

The value of the sum insured is increased by 100% which specifies as; on the first renewal of the policy after completing 1 policy year, the SI increases by 50%, and on the second renewal of the policy after 2 policy years, the SI increases by 100%.

HDFC ERGO Health Insurance

Restoration Benefit

How to claim HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Global Policy?

The policyholders can raise a claim against their HDFC ERGO Optima Secure and get either a cashless claim settlement or reimbursement claim. Here are the steps to claim your Optima Secure Global health policy:

Steps for cashless claim settlement

If you go for hospitalisation at a networking hospital of the insurer, you need not pay anything and you can receive the treatment on a cashless claim settlement basis by following the below-mentioned steps:

  • Step 1

Reach out to the networking hospital of the insurer that must be listed in your policy document.

  • Step 2

You need to inform your insurer 3 days before getting hospitalised if you have a planned case of hospitalisation. However, in case of emergency hospitalisation, you must inform your insurer within 24 hours from the time you’re being hospitalised.

  • Step 3

Take your e-health card along with you when going to get hospitalised. Collect the pre-authorisation claim form from the desk of TPA. Fill out the form diligently and submit it at your network hospital’s TPA’s desk; attach the valid ID proof and e-health card at this time

  • Step 4

The final step is the verification of your claim, where the company will verify and match all the submitted files during hospitalisation. Later, the hospital and the insurance company will settle the claim between both. You do not need to pay anything on your own here.

Steps for reimbursement claim

If you have to take hospitalisation benefits in a non-networking hospital that’s not mentioned in your policy documents, you need to follow these steps:

  • Step 1

Inform your insurer about getting hospitalised within 24 hours of hospitalisation to a non-networking hospital if it was not planned. If you’ve planned for hospitalisation, you need to inform the insurer about the same at least 3 days before hospitalisation.

  • Step 2

Collect the pre-authorisation form from the hospital’s TPA desk and fill it out carefully. Later, submit it with the ID proof and e-health card of the HDFC ERGO health insurance.

  • Step 3

Pay off your account first against all the hospital and treatment expenses. After getting discharged from the hospital, you need to keep all the compulsory medical bills and hospitalisation receipts handy with you as it’ll further help you get your expenses reimbursed.

  • Step 4

Now submit all of the compulsorily needed documents, claim forms, medical bills, and other details that are required by the insurer.

  • Step 5

Then the insurance company will review your claim request and upon verification, they will reimburse all the medical expenses as specified in the policy documents. Below are the important documents that you need to submit during raising a reimbursement claim.

Documents to be submitted for reimbursement claim

  • E-health card
  • Photo ID proof/photograph
