Star Health has introduced the Star Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) (COVID-19) Insurance policy. This policy covers expenses incurred during the treatment of COVID-19 infection. The plan is offered on an individual basis, and only one policy is allowed per insured person.

If you or a loved one contracts COVID-19, the Star Novel Coronavirus (nCov) Insurance Policy provides affordable health coverage. A lump sum compensation is offered to the insured under this program from Star Health Insurance upon diagnosis with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Star Novel Coronavirus Plan Key Features

  • Lump-Sum Payment: The policy provides a lump sum payment to policyholders diagnosed with COVID-19 and requiring hospitalization.
  • Short Waiting Period: A 16-day waiting period applies from the policy commencement date.
  • No Pre-Acceptance Medical Screening: No medical screening or testing is required for applicants.
  • Free-Look Period: A 15-day free-look period is available. If unsatisfied, you can return the policy for a refund, provided no claim has been made. This applies only to new policy purchases, not renewals.
  • Tax Benefits: Premiums paid for this policy are eligible for tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act.

Exclusions

  • Permanent diseases or health conditions that are not included under Star Novel Coronavirus are:
  • Claims for diseases contracted prior to policy commencement are not admissible.
  • Claims are not admissible if the policyholder has traveled outside India during the policy period.
